An exceptional 18th Century Italian reliquary cross in superbly carved wood and decorated with garlands, scrolled leaves, flowers and seven angel heads. It presents the relic of Monsignor Cosmo Perbenedetti, episcopal bishop of Terni from 1748 since 1767. The base of the cross conceals a small drawer which contains an ancient document in Latin language written on parchment signed by Bishop Agostino Felice De Rossi (1722-1788), who was bishop of the city of Terni (Italy) since 1768. This document certifies the authenticity of the relic, moreover even confirmed by the original seal in red wax, well preserved, which is on the front of the small glass niche containing the relic. Elle présente la relique de Monseigneur Cosmo Perbenedetti, évêque épiscopal de la ville de Terni depuis 1748 jusqu'au 1767. La base de la croix dissimule un petit tiroir qui contient un ancien document en langue latin écrit sur parchemin signé par l’évêque Agostino Felice De Rossi (1722-1788), qui était évêque de la ville de Terni (Italie) depuis 1768 Ce document certifie l’authenticité de la relique, d’ailleurs même confirmée par le cachet original en cire rouge, bien conservé, qui se trouve au recto de la petite niche en verre contenant la relique. Dimensions : h. 37,5 x 20 x 10,5 cm. -------------------------- Eccezionale croce reliquario in legno scolpito in rilievo. Presenta la reliquia di Monsignor Cosmo Perbenedetti, vescovo episcopale della città di terni dal 1748 al 1767. La base della croce nasconde un piccolo segreto contenente un’antica pergamena in latino firmata dal vescovo Agostino Felice De Rossi (1722-1788), vescovo di Terni dal 1768. Il documento certifica l’autenticità della reliquia, confermata anche dal sigillo in cera rossa presente sul retro della piccola teca contenente la reliquia. Dimensioni : h. 37,5 x 20 x 10,5 cm. |
